Experience

Iwona has many years of practical experience as an Attorney at Law on commercial law, in particular as an expert on banking and finance  cross-border transactions. She specialises in law of NewTech, FinTech, RegTech, in particular DLT / blockchain and AI projects, smart contracts, ICOs. 

Iwona is an expert &  member of the EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum - an institution created by the European Commission in cooperation with the European Parliament. She works there in the Blockchain Policy and Framework Conditions working group. She also cooperates with the Coalition for Polish Innovation, solving the practical challenges of Distributed Ledger Technology. She takes part in process of designing smart contracts, cooperating with developers of smart contracts,  DLT architects and IT/blockchain projects managers. She is involved in the processes of assets tokenizations.  

Being a member of Association of Polish Economists, she participates in the implementation of the Blockchain project. Iwona is a speaker at numerous conferences on blockchain/DLT and NewTech, e.g. IBM Warsaw Think, BlockchainTech Congress, Complaince National Congress. 

Iwona is currently external legal advisor to some Polish and international banks. For a number of years, as of counsel attorney for a big law firm, she provided day-by-day legal services to one of the leading Polish banks belonging to the global banking group.

During her work Iwona was a member of the advisory team to one of the global telecommunication companies in course of complex international arbitration and litigation proceedings. Dispute value: ca. EUR 15 billion.

Iwona was an expert advice on resolution and liquidation of banks for
the Banking Guarantee Fund in scope of a working group of the Polish Financial Stability Committee. 

Iwona has provided a legal assistance to an international investor by the acquisition of companies, due diligence operations and transformation of an international holding.

Her experience includes also an advice, transaction work, representation before the public administration, and other comprehensive services provided to an international investor in course of opening mines in Poland, starting at the stage of prospecting and exploration of mineral deposits. Key areas of legal expertise: corporate law, administrative proceedings, obtaining and performance of mining concessions.

Iwona has been also engaged in processes of legal due diligence in real estate transactions and in advisory on real estate law and perpetual usufruct to banks, companies, local governments (e.g. City of Warsaw) and bankruptcy trustees, including bankrupcy trustees for real estate development companies.

Iwona gives the legal opinions regarding the legal situation of a trusts functioning in Poland, including the trust as a shareholder in a Polish commercial company.

Iwona is and expert on claims 
enforcement, secured transactions and bankruptcy, World Bank - the Doing Business Program.
